Lakefront Homes: Norman, Wylie and Mountain Island
If you're looking for waterfront homes in Charlotte area, chances are good that you'll be interested in looking at one of three lakes in the metro area: Lake Norman, Lake Wylie and Mountain Island Lake. All of these lakes were created through the damming of the Catawba River. There are a few area lakes farther from downtown Charlotte, such as Badin Lake and Lake Hickory. And a few smaller lakes and ponds exist around Charlotte such as Lake Davidson and Lake Cornelius - with a handful of waterfront homes. However, most Charlotte-area homebuyers who want a lakefront property search for homes around the big three (Norman, Wylie and Mountain Island Lake).
Waterfront Neighborhoods Around Charlotte
You can find several large waterfront communities in the Charlotte area. To the north of Charlotte lies Lake Norman, one of North Carolina's largest lakes. And on the shores of Lake Norman, lakefront neighborhoods include The Peninsula, The Point, Sailview, Northview Harbour, Sisters Cove, Norman Shores, The Harbour at the Pointe and many others. Most of Lake Norman's waterfront properties are in one of the following three towns: Cornelius, Mooresville and Denver. But you'll also find some lakefront properties in towns such as Huntersville, Troutman, Sherrills Ford, Davidson, Terrell and Statesville.
Around Lake Wylie, popular waterfront neighborhoods include: Mclean - South Shore, Reflection Point, River Hills, McLean Overlake, The Sanctuary and The Palisades. Most of the Lake Wylie lakefront homes for sale can be found in Belmont, Charlotte, Tega Cay and other portions of York County, South Carolina.
